Upward Trend

Today Total: 10k
Week Total: 10k
Month Total: 62k
Year Total: 1400k

Headed off after work in the light sprinkling rain around the old stomping grounds of Breakfast Point and Canada Bay.

Very happy to have run a nice even pace for the entire distance without struggling over-much. The weather was coolish but boy it sure was humid out there and I was sweating like a submariner in a depth charge attack.

Anyhoo 10k in 62.56 - considering that last Saturday week I struggled to "race" the Striders 10k in 64mins I'll take this "training" run as a sign of improvement - hey what can I say - as a behaviouralist from way back I'm a huge advocate of the 3 R's:

Response
Rewarded
Recurs

Now if I could only get the cognitive therapy to work as well :-)

and he's back folks :)

great stuff 2p - i didn't think it would be long! so what is the reward?

Lets just call our work on our cognitive therapy as a work in progress ;-)

I suspect Mrs 2Ps is more than an impartial observer on whether this therapy works.

Good luck with the rewards.

My guess is that one of those two runs was an abberation, and I don't think it was this one :-)

Thanks for checking out the mountain for me - I wasn't too forthcoming on exactly when we were going simply because this is a public forum, so sorry that you went to the extra effort for nothing :-(

You never know when it will be a good or better day.
That's another good reason to keep going!

yeah, that humidity's a b*tch - wish we could have some though. It's been back into autumn up here the last couple of days!

Hey 2P

Into behaviorist philosophy eh? Maybe you could try running your next 10K in "Skinner's Box."

For mine I reckon you're improving cause you're sensing some sort of danger on your recent runs. This is my "fear philosophy" in which I theorize that we do things only because we fear the consequences of not doing them. It's a philosophy that one can only understand fully after meeting my wife!

Keep going.

Yes, that's an improvement! I hope the humidity didn't set the cement ;)

You must be pleased with the improvement in such a short time. You'll be smashing PBs in not time.

Thats not improvement 2p....just shows how much you were slacking off in the Striders race

:)))))))))))))))))))))))

Heh 2P I just noticed your fancy red countdown.

What is in 141 days?

CJ said...

I'm not sure if I really care at the moment but thanks for the countdown to SFT. Its ok - just having a tired one today. I'll bounce back tomorrow I'm sure.

Improvementis good. It is probably worth taking it easy for a few months every now and then just so you can experience improvement again.

Love your countdown clock - what a great party trick!
I worked at Burwood six years ago and ran daily around the water to Cabarita - it's such a special area for running...
