Green Belt

Today Total: 7k
Week Total: 13k
Month Total: 39k
Year Total: 776k

Ran a loop that takes in the green space that runs through Concord and comes back via the foreshore.

It's a harder run than my out and backs on the foreshore as part of it is on grass and there are a couple of small hills - I also prefer a loop to an out and back as I have a tendancy to take a break halfway on out and backs that I never do on loops.

Anyhoo just took off at a slow pace and tapered from there. Took a few short walk breaks during the last couple of k's to finish up with 7k in 45.14 at 6.28av.

I'm ok with that - at least I'm out there doin it again :-)

Chip Chip

Today Total: 6k
Week Total: 6k
Month Total: 32k
Year Total: 769k

After 3 days of no solid food I ventured back to work today feeling much more chipper and just under 3kgs lighter than what I was on Saturday morning.

Turns out 7 people from my wife's work also came down with similar symptoms and needed to take time off from work after we all went out for dinner on Friday night.

Anyhoo despite eating normally today I felt pretty weary when I got home but I was really keen to at least turn the legs over, so I headed out with the intention of just going for walk/run for 20 mins or so.

Having not run since last Thursday I took off a bit quick and before I knew it had gone through 3k in 17.41 - ooops.

I knew I was going to pay for this folly and after a 15 second breather was thinking about the lurch home when a chap all camelbacked and fuel belted up came trotting by.

I watched him go thinking how I'd like to be doing a mid week long run and as I watched I realised he was going at an easy pace I could probably keep up with him - so I accelerated (a relative term) and said "g'day".

Turns out Greg is a tri-guy training for IM and had already run and swam this morning so was happy to plod along and keep me company.

Even trotting at 6.15/6.20 pace had me breathing like a fat labrador but the company kept me honest and though I really struggled over the last k I made it home in 36.48 @ 6.08av.

Feel pretty good now though :-)

Best Laid Plans

I don't normally blog when I'm not running - but hey - I'm bored.

The plan had been to do a sneaky under-the-radar shot at the Lake Macquarie 10.5k on Sunday - but when I woke up I was too crook.

With hindsight it started on Friday - I was listless and unproductive at work and Friday night I felt really bloated like I'd eaten too much - same, same for Saturday.

Sunday morning and I felt ill and moped around the house (up the lake) all day till around 4.30pm when the purge commenced. I'll save you guys the detail but suffice it to say that through the night if I wasn't on the loo I was dreaming about it. Last explosive incident at 5.22am precisely - ok so I went into a little detail.

Slept most of today and feel really blah. Only had one banana and a slice of mountain bread since dinner time Saturday night - been keeping the fluids up though and drank some softdrink for the sugar.

At this rate I can't see myself running before Wednesday or Thursday which is a bit frustrating as I want to keep the momentum going.

Sometimes I think karma is just messing with me to see how fair dinkum I am!

4k (sort of)

Today Total: 4k
Week Total: 4k
Month Total: 20k
Year Total: TBA

Legs were a bit heavy but not sore at all after Sundays run so I headed off around the foreshore.

I ran the first 2k in 12 mins flat but then felt overwhelmingly nauseous so I just turned around and jogged/walked back home feeling wretched all the way.

Not sure what that was all about - I feel fine now - just one of those things I guess.

Wet 'n Wild

Today Total: 8k
Week Total: 16k
Month Total: 16k
Year Total: 753k

I pulled up much better after the Friday four so I decided to apply the 2P patented 100% rule this evening in the rain.

So I sloshed my way around my greenbelt/foreshore run - I loved it - it was just brilliant being out there again and running.

Well kind of running that is - I doddled at a very steady pace and threw in a number of walk breaks to get me around the 8k in 59.47 @ 7.28 av.

Not quite the sub 6 min pace I did on Friday Ewen :-)

Another Shorty

Today Total: 4k
Week Total: 8k
Month Total: 8k
Year Total: 745k

I pulled up pretty sore after last Monday nights miniscule 4k - I mean even my tum tum hurt! I guess you get that when you don't run for 86 days.

Anyhoo with still a little residual soreness in my adductors I headed out around the foreshore tonight for another go.

Same run as Monday - all up 4k in 23.53 @ 5.58av.

Talk Is Cheap But It Takes Money To Buy Beer

Today Total: 4k
Week Total: 4k
Month Total: 4k
Year Total: 741k

Well having made my commitment public earlier today I had to put up - so it was off for a joggle around the forehore after work tonight.

It was a bit chilly out but with my glovies and beanie on I was warm enough and running was easier than I anticipated which was a nice surprise.

My flight of the phoenix stats ended up 4k in 24.13 @ 6.03 average pace - let's see how I pull up.....

My Name Is 2P & It Has Been 86 Days Since My Last Run

Hi All,

Firstly, thank you so much to all of you who have left comments, emailed or PM'd me during this last running hiatus. Secondly, apologies for not making comments on your blogs as I didn't want to draw attention to myself.

So I guess as I'm about to emerge from my cave a bit of an update is in order.....

Well the short story is I was dumb, then I was dumber. Then I was lazy which is probably the dumbest bit of all.

My first injury was as reported below - I'm not sure because I never got it x-rayed but I suspect I may have had a crack fracture in my tibia. Just as I was recovering from that (about 4 weeks) I did something I still shake my head at..... I decided to kick some fence palings in half (for the fire) by placing them over 2 bricks and stomping down in the centre - all was going swimmingly till I stomped down with all my force directly onto one of the bricks (even dumber I was wearing my leather work shoes so no cushioning) - suffice it to say I had a very tender and blue/black heel for a while. The inactivity and extra weight from not training has also meant I've had a dollop of Crook Back Syndrome as well - but now I'm just whinging.....

I probably could have run over the last 3 or 4 weeks or so but with the cold weather, some extra tonnage and loss of fitness my heart just hasn't been in it. But I can feel the stirrings of motivation (or is that just my man boobs jiggling?) after reading the Twelve Foot reports on CR and wishing I was there.

So time for a commitment - I will run either this evening (depending on what time I eventually get home) or at the very least tomorrow.

There I've done it!
