The One That Got Away

Today Total: 5.6k
Week Total: 25.6k
Month Total: 129k
Year Total: 391k

I've had better days - oh well ya get that on the big jobs and it wouldn't be a Six Foot campaign without a drama or two. I'd be concerned if it was all going too smoothly - so I'm glad everything is going to plan :-)

I've had a bit of a low grade virus thingee this last week - upset tum, headachey, general malaise and achey back and limbs blah, blah, blah.

Anyhoo took off on my run this morning through the trails around Crangan Bay with the intention of doing my favourite 26k loop through the Munmorah State Rec Park. Keeping it brief - started to sweat buckets - felt uncomfortable but kept pushing - got to about five and a half kms and became very light headed - felt sick - walked home.

That's about it really - felt awful on the walk home which took about an hour and twenty mins! I had the pre-vomit salivation number happening a couple of times but fortunately no carrots - got home had a shower and went back to bed.

Feel decidedly blah now and have a bit of a temperature - legs feel like they just climbed the stairs at Nellies.

Timing is good though - a few days to get over this then two and a half weeks to sharpen up for the big dance - perfect :-)

If there was ever a perfect time in a sixfoot preparation to get sick this is probably it. Hope you get better soon.

Hope you get well soon :-)

Perfect timing really, better now than in two or so weeks' time ;-)

What is Six Foot without the odd drama I say ;-)

Take care of yourself & I'm sure you'll be back to your brilliant best very soon

Yeah, great timing 2P. I'd hate to be jogging down the stairs dodging carrots. Take it easy mate. Hope you're OK for Wednesday.

Hope the virus doesn't stay around too long mate. Race day will see you fit for the big show with no problems.

I'd say that a cool shower and rest are the perfect program for the next few days. Take it easy, come back strong! :-)

Glad to hear that you are able to look on the bright side. Sounds like you need a few more days of resting.

Disappointed though - I like to read your Sunday run report:)

I love your positive attitude even when crook. I reckon you know you are well and truly ready for the biggy. I can't believe it is so close now.

Take care and get well soon.

Your dance-card will remain full no doubt despite the rebuff.

I agree with everyone. If it's going to happen, might as well happen now. Two, three days you'll be right. Good luck.

ramp up the vitamins and plenty of rest, call me in the morning if your not feeling better.

Get well soon. There is a difference between motivational blahs and being sick. You had me thinking you were experiencing the former, but I think you can be excused for a less than stellar week when you have been crook.

No surprise with the amount of training you've put in over the last few months. The hard yakka's done now, so sharpen up and enjoy the taper. (wish I could, hate it)
You'll be flying come race day mate.

Perfect timing if you ask me. All the hard work has been done. Time to rest up and recharge the batteries so you are flying on March 10. Take care mate!

At least you had the sense to know when to stop, admit defeat and go home...eventually!

You're right though, any training program very rarely goes to plan but at leats thetimimg seems right for your lurgy. Take care and hope you feel better very soon.

Love your attitude 2P, even about being sick! That walk home sounds like a nightmare tho! Poor you.

Rest up till you've completely recovered, as others have said, you've done the hard work - and pushing on too soon is not worth the risk of a relapse...

Sending you healthy vibes! MAR.

Hope the lurgy is soon on it's way and you're back on the road soon. Better now than in two weeks time....it would have taken you even longer to walk home from 6 ft track!

Are you alright now 2P? Cough twice for "YES", and once for "NO".

Superflake said...

2P are you out doing secret training? Damn stupid question, if you were you couldn't tell us.

Hope by the time you read this you are feeling better and fighting fit.

I just watched your 6ft counter click under 2 weeks to go! Very exciting :-)
